There’s more to being a part of the Rotaract Club of UWA than simply attending meetings. Find a position from the list below that interests you and help take the club in a positive direction for 2006. The club’s livelihood depends on passionate, motivated people like you to lead the way!

 

President

The head honcho of the club. You must be present to chair all meetings and be ready to support, delegate to, represent and motivate the rest of the team. You are also the official representative of the club to communicate with sponsoring Rotary clubs and the community at large.

 

 Vice President

The VP is the President’s Wingman. You know everything the head honcho knows and offer support and assistance wherever needed. You take the meetings when the Pres can’t make it, and are the keeper of the Club diary for the year ie you liaise with other Rotaract clubs to organise events around important uni and community events.

 

Secretary

The Secretary manages all of the club’s correspondence, except for email. You write letters and regularly check the club’s mailbox in the Guild Village. You are also the minute taker at all meetings, which you prepare after each meeting for distribution with the weekly e-newsletter.

 

Treasurer

The Treasurer holds the golden key to the club’s loot. You must watch and accurately record the money trail, using firm methods of receiving and paying out cash, collating the end of year financial reports and auditing these reports as per Rotaract policy. All training is provided by the guild and the previous treasurer.

 

Guild Liaison

The Guild Liaison is the communication link between the Guild and our club. You will need to represent the club at monthly Societies (SOC) Council Meetings, and haggle with the rest of the club reps for financial grants and the like. You will also help to get the club involved in Guild events like Club Olympics!

 

Publications Officer

You are the marketing guru for the club. You manage the website (with assistance from intelligent computer-literate people) and compile the monthly newsletter “The Beak” which is distributed to other clubs and community organisations. You are also the person who knows everything there is to know about printing and producing publicity material (don’t worry, we have a file with all the information in it).

 

Membership/Email Officer

You are the Rotaract Yoda. You keep the club communicating by making sure all emails are forwarded to the appropriate people, or replied to directly. You produce the weekly email bulletin which goes out to club members, other Rotaract and Rotary clubs and you maintain the contact list and keep track of the club. Good organisational skills are essential for this role.

 

Committee Director

The committees are the creative hands-on groups in the club. Usually, each Rotaractor is assigned to one or two committees, to bring projects to fruition under the coordination of directors for the following:

Club Service – coordinate club meetings social events and membership formalities

Community Service – coordinate projects to benefit the community

International Service – coordinate projects to benefit the international community, liaise with Rotaract clubs in other countries

Professional Development – coordinate opportunities for professional development/mentoring for the club’s members

Rotary District 9450 is hosting the Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange official visit by District 3300 of Malaysiabetween 12 March (today) and 8 April. GSE is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 years.

MDA is having their annual street appeal again on Friday the 17th March, please read the letter bellow if your interested in helping out. I have attached the form to fill in below as well.

We need your support for our Annual Street Appeal.

 

Dear UWA Rotaract

 

It is time, once more, to ask for your invaluable support with our Annual Street Appeal. With your help, we can raise the funds needed for our vital research that is carried out at the Australian Neuromuscular Research Institute, and together we will beat muscular dystrophy.

 

This year, the Street appeal will be held on Friday 17^th March. We require collectors in the city and other surrounding areas. Some of our volunteers have kindly donated their time to coordinate particular areas in Perth. Please contact the coordinator in your area if you can help.

Post O'Day, Pre-1st meeting meeting...

Hi guys!

Thanks to everyone who's been working hard to make O'Day a success this year, especially to Jessica who has taken the organisational reigns while President Lauren has been away.

I'm hosting a brief meeting at my place this Sunday morning at 11am to run through some practicalities for the first meeting. We just need to put together an agenda and decide what sort of food and beverages we want to provide for the crew at our first meeting. It's ok if you can't come Sunday - I just figure that more heads are better than mine alone :)

O Day Preparation Meeting - Saturday 18th February 2006 10am

Hello UWA Rotaracters,

Seasons greetings, and I hope your all having a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Unfortunately its time to get back at it ready for the new Semester. Oday is one of the biggest days of the year for our club as it is our big chance to attract as many more members as possible and hopefully some that are interested in taking on the executive and leadership roles in the clubs as well as taking part in all the good work that we do. :)

I have taken on organising Oday preparation as Lauren is out of the country. Following on from our past tradition I would like to have as many people as possible over to help put together goodie bags, posters, pictures, ideas etc next weekend Sat the 18th February from 10am at my place:

Hopefully I will have most of the bits and pieces together by then and we will have some stuff to work with. I will even provide some yummy morning tea for those that need enticement!!

In addition its really important that everyone give me details of who can help out manning the stall on Oday itself. The day is 24th Feb, a Friday, for those that dont know, and I will need people there from about 8am to help set up through to about 4pm. I unfortunately have to work (on campus) between 8.45am and 12.15pm but will be there from 7.30am to help set up and then 12.20-4/5pm to man the store. If we could organise to have two people there during the morning to help out, and at least one in the afternoon in addition to me that would be fantastic. \

So please email me with your 24th Feb availability, and whether or not you can make it on 18th Feb at my place. My mobile is also below if you would rather text or call.
